Our Challenge

S&G Air Conditioning Contracts Ltd were employed by Paramount to carry out the mechanical works installations including new VRF air conditioning systems, mechanical ventilation systems, toilet ventilation and domestic services to suit the Cat A Fitout on multiple floors (lower ground, ground, first, second, sixth and seventh floors) consisting of office space, canteen, gymnasium and WC cores.

South Plaza is a unique multi storey office block in the heart of Bristol city centre and was an excellent project to be part of.

Our Solution

New multiple Panasonic heat recovery VRF systems were designed, supplied and installed on all floor levels to suit the layouts. All units were sized on our calculations and consisted of ducted FCUs. Our installations included for all ductwork and swirl diffusers to suit the exposed floor slab aesthetic.

Our works also included for the crane lift to transport all new VRF condensing units to roof level.

All new rectangular primary air ventilation ductwork distribution systems were installed from point of entry onto each floor at the riser and to serve the spaces via the AC fan coil units. Some of the ductwork was fire rated where required.

New WC extract ventilation systems were installed to serve the multiple WC cores on each floor.

New local heat recovery ventilation systems were installed within the basement level to serve the gymnasium and changing room facilities.

The basement AHU supply air dedicated to serving the ground floor reception was modified including ductwork adaptions and relocation of intake and exhaust louvres.

A new BMS was installed to serve all new mechanical installations.

The existing domestic cold water storage tanks within the roof top plant room were replaced with new together with pipework where necessary and booster set serving the whole building. Additionally, a new domestic hot water cylinder c/w heat exchanger was installed with new circulating pumps utilising the existing LTHW boilers.

All new sanitaryware appliances within the WC cores were supplied and installed.

Upon completion, the systems were balanced and commissioned to ensure the correct air/water flow rates and cooling/heating duties are provided to each area.

Our scope of works included the following:

  • Validation
